Use Extended Desktop and Dual Monitors to make this happen. In this way, Gallery View can be on one monitor while the content you are sharing is on the other. 

Use the SMART Board as your second monitor and the students will be larger than life! Okay, not larger than life, but pretty darn big compared to your laptop screen.
