First semester of senior year, a rating of each month

  1. August  8/10
Me and the other seniors on senior night!

The first month of school is always so exciting. New classes, seeing all of your friends in the hallways, getting a nice new school outfit, it’s all you could really ask for as a student. This year was especially great because of the different senior events that we get

to do at school. Even though we had to wake up early to get here at 8 am on the first day of school, seeing everyone on the field together in their    homemade togas was so much fun- I also got a lot of cute pictures with my friends! This month also consisted of senior night for dance team, a day that I never thought would come. My team and coaches had a little party for all of us seniors, and it was truly the sweetest thing! Overall this month was great, but it does get a few points off for making my birthday the second day of school….

  1. September 9/10
Me, Abby , and Teagan at homecoming pictures!

The thing that I can say about September is that it was jam packed with a bunch of events! I danced in the Labor Day parade, went on an Urban History field trip to Chicago, visited Loyola for a dance camp, went to Benet’s homecoming dance, took the ACT, went to North’s homecoming dance, and started Orchesis! On top of all of this, school was actually starting content. This month lost a point due to the amount of stress I was feeling trying to do all of these things at once, but it all ended up working out and was an overall super fun month!

  1. October 7/10

Although October is super fun with Halloween, this month did have some more lows than previous months. To start it off, my little brother crashed my car. My prized possession, Connie was her name, was gone. I was devastated. I was lucky enough to receive a used car from my mom’s friends, but I

RIP Connie

will forever miss Connie. This month I also got super sick and had to miss my dance practice for the first time. If you know me, I NEVER miss practice. But I knew I needed to take a day to get better so that I would be able to dance the next week. Another thing about October that really got to me was college applications. The week before Nov.1 I was probably the most stressed out I have ever been in my life. If I had any advice to give to incoming seniors, PLEASE do your college applications early. It’s for your own good.

  1. November 9/10

I am proud to report that in this month I was accepted into two of the schools I applied Early Action to, so turns out the stress paid off! This month was also the start to dance team’s competitive season. Even though this time of year dance can get a little overwhelming, it is also my favorite because our team gets so close

My team and I performing our first dance, “Listen”

with each other and we are always there for each other when we need it (also because we spend every second of every day with each other). So far we have placed 1st twice and 4th once! I’m super proud of my team for working so hard every single day at practice, it truly pushes me to want to  be a better dancer and person. This month we also started to practice the lift and couples dance for Orchesis! Even though the boys sometimes struggle to pay attention, their enthusiasm to participate in a loved tradition is super cool.

  1. December 10/10
Slimy Steve

Honestly, not much has happened this month. In regards to dance, we don’t have another competition until January. School work also hasn’t been that terrible either, everything has been pretty manageable. One thing to note about this month is that I made a really cute monster in ceramics, and I am really proud of it. His name is Slimy Steve! Since everything seems pretty good, I think the only thing I can think of for this month is a 10/10.

Senior year has treated me pretty fairly I would say. I have had a lot of ups, but also a lot of downs as well. But I believe that everything happens to me for a reason, no matter how much it sucks. This year I have learned how to work through some pretty tough situations that seemed unimaginable. But it made me realize that life can flip at any time, but change is something that we have to come to terms with. But in the meantime, tell your friends and family you love them, step outside your comfort zone, and just live your life. It’s our last year in high  school, let’s make the most of it!

  1. I really enjoyed being able to see something different from my life in this blog. I always thought it was weird to think that oh other people have there own lives to. Especially somebody who I am not friends with. I really enjoyed the rating of each month because I got to see what things brought you up and what things brought you down as a person. Looking back at my months this way and thinking of how I would rate mine has been able to show me how much I have actually done in the last couple of months with friends and family. Congratulations on getting into the schools that you got into. I have no idea if they were dream schools of yours or just regular schools that you had on your list. Getting accepted into colleges has probably been one of the more exciting parts of senior year compared to a lot of others.
