Bang! Nike?

Nike Park may very well be the best thing that has ever happened to me. The number of activities there to keep me and my friends occupied during times when everything else was closed was extremely helpful. Being able to just go 3 minutes from my house to a sports complex is one of the bright spots of living where I do. Now, let me give you a few memories that I made there with some of the best people.

The basketball courts there bring back memories of pure happiness. After all, I’m a hoopist. Going there the summer after freshman year and just hooping for hours and hours was just the best. It was a lot simpler than as well as all we had to think about was summer homework if any of us had any. Making teams was always the hardest because everyone would accuse you of making unfair teams that favor you, but it was all laughs. I still go there now a consistent amount with good friends that create no drama and can just play. The all-time moment at Nike was when I absolutely took Trevor’s ankles and then hit the shot afterward while he was laying on the ground below me.

The weird thing was that whenever I played football at Nike, it would never be on the turf. It would be on the grass next to the volleyball courts. That same summer, Asim’s dad would come to play quarterback with us which just made the whole experience a lot better. I got closer again with some people that I didn’t talk to in a while. The rivalry between Asim and his dad, when they would both play quarterback, was hilarious to watch and so was Asim’s dad making sure we follow all of the football rules even though we were playing for fun. If anything, it made it all the more exciting. Also, the trash talk between us and Asim’s brother was just fun to watch as his brother was nearly our height during all of this even though he was 2 years younger than us. We haven’t played in a while, but that was definitely one of the best moments at Nike.

I was never a big fan of soccer or the World Cup til the summer before junior year. That summer, we would go to Nike and play world cup til the cops would come, and then try to play again after he would leave. Just playing soccer with a volleyball made everyone so skilled and it was just a blast. One of the most athletic kids I know, Peter Christiansen, was just insane every time even though he stopped playing soccer in 5th grade. The first night we started playing was because of a coincidence. We went to Nike to play basketball and saw some other kids we were somewhat friends with. Noah had a volleyball and after hooping, no one wanted to get sandy. So he suggested playing soccer with a volleyball and that’s how we all started playing World Cup with only a volleyball. I still haven’t played with a real soccer ball yet.

I had no idea what pickleball was til I saw it being built behind the tennis courts. I wondered why the idea of it had even existed as I just thought it was tennis for old people. I had no idea how fun it would turn out to be. Joe and I would go as many times as we could the summer after sophomore year and I can definitely say that we are both pros to this day. It still gets you a great workout even though it is a smaller tennis court and it is honestly just as difficult as tennis in my opinion. The reason is because of the rules that the game has. Thankfully, Joe and I were too lazy to actually follow the rules so we just used the rules of tennis and applied them to the pickleball courts. The only sad part that I remember was that there was one day that Joe absolutely got me going one way and then hit the ball the other way. This made me do the splits and I literally had to sit out the entire day, because it just hurt to do anything else.

Man, am I happy that Nike Park was built. So many great memories were built there and I know there will be more.

Bang! The End is Coming?

I’m sure everyone is excited about spring break next week and how much fun they will have. Don’t get me wrong, I will also be having the time of my life in Cabo, but spring break also signals one more thing that is approaching. That thing is graduation. So in this blog, let me explain the highs and lows of my high school experience.

Freshman year was probably one of the weirdest years I’ve had. All I remember is that this was when Covid hit and when we went into quarantine. While I do wish that Covid-19 never occurred, quarantine was honestly top 5 best moments for me personally. It was weird not seeing others for a few months, but being able to just be by yourself was so relaxing, especially with all of the work given over e-learning. I would wake up around 9:30-10ish and then finish my work by 1:30ish if I genuinely tried doing it. Then I would have the entire day to do whatever I wanted. I watched so many movies and tv shows that I think that is where my love for movies came from. Another thing was that my brother was home. I personally like having my brother home, because he is usually the one who backs me up when I get in an argument with mom or dad. Although he did make me go crazy more than a few times, it was nice having him there. Also, not having to stress over school made the entire experience 100x less stressful. Of course, I wish this pandemic never occurred, but what was produced from it was an experience that I genuinely loved.

My sophomore year was the weirdest year I would say. This was the year when we started school again, but instead of e-learning, we did zoom. Honestly, I hated zoom with a passion just because I could feel my eyes slowly deteriorating. The good part was that I could go get a snack or go to the bathroom when I wanted most of the time. I also got closer with some people during the first semester of sophomore year that I’m still friends with. Then when we did in-person combined with zoom, I think I had a worse experience than the first semester. Being able to see some people I hadn’t seen in a while was nice, but the way we had to do things in the school such as the hallway walking made me wish I just stayed home. I’m delighted that I also decided to wait to take ceramics til senior year because if I had to continuously take my piece home and then back to school, I know I would have broken it and my room would be a bigger mess than it already was. The last thing I remember about this year was that the summer that followed sophomore year was probably one of the best ones I’ve had.

I think I’ll talk about junior and senior years in the same paragraph, but let’s talk about junior year first. Junior year was when most of us came back to be fully in-person and I really saw so many more people than before. Also, the workload was crazy different than what I remembered, because I would say that most of my teachers gave less work during sophomore year and then the teachers during junior year just dumped everything on us. They say that this year is the hardest year of high school, but I genuinely think the first semester of senior year is harder. Finishing college applications while also doing schoolwork was the most stressful semester I’ve had. I even forgot to submit an application to some schools, because I was focused on other senior activities. Then I got the flu before thanksgiving break which made me miss the senior roller skating night and then the entire next week I was stationed at home while my family went to see all of my cousins. Thankfully, that semester is over and I’ve been relaxing more than ever now. I even have time now to take at least 3 hours every day to do whatever I want after school when I don’t have activities.

High school has been weird for me. I know I complain about it, but I also understand that the class of 2021 and 2020 had it a lot worse as covid was big during their senior year. Hopefully, this semester ends well and the summer can then be the best one yet.

Mount Rushmore Of Snacks

I’m all about munching when the time comes. Whether at night or right after school, I immediately search for a snack if I get a ping of hungriness. So let me tell all of you the best snacks that have been proven(by me) to completely eradicate all hunger. Let me explain the mountain of snacks.

Dot’s Pretzels may very well be the best snack I’ve ever had or it is in my top 5 at least. I’m not generally a big pretzel guy as I think it is bland, but Dot’s Pretzels are just fantastic in every aspect. The taste of just one Dot’s Pretzel creates this unimaginable craving for more until you lose count of the pretzels and you start to wonder whether your obsession with these pretzels is healthy. With Dot’s Pretzels, there’s a multitude of flavors, but you mustn’t choose the honey mustard flavor. That flavor is just downright horrendous when it comes to how Dots made them. The original Flavor is the best flavor and carries a punch that will knock out your taste buds. If you are feeling more sweet than savory, try their cinnamon sugar brand. That stuff is dangerous when paired up with the original flavor. Mix those two up in a bowl and have a party in your mouth with each pretzel. Another plus of these pretzels is that you don’t have to do any cooking and you can still munch quite easily.

However, not everyone likes pretzels and if Dots can’t change their mind, goldfish is the next best option. The amount of options that exist with goldfish means that anyone will find a flavor that suits their taste buds. Personally, I’m a huge fan of regular goldfish and even like it better than the flavor-blasted goldfish. The way that it has the perfect amount of salt and still tastes somewhat cheesy makes it an all-time great when it comes to snacks. However, the flavor-blasted goldfish is the most popular among humans. The way the eater can taste even more cheese and have the option of licking their fingers afterward makes this type of goldfish all the more delectable. People can say it is unhygienic, but can they say they tasted true happiness in the form of cheese powder? I thought not, so next time you visit a store, you better pick up goldfish. You can get it in packets, bigger packets, and even a box.

Next on this mountain of all-time great snacks is the gusher. Gushers are everything fruit snacks are, but provide that extra gush that pleases every eater. I’ve seen countless children scream in happiness when they see gushers in the snack aisle and I can confidently say that I scream inside when I see the gushers. I love gushers with all of my heart which is also why I only get gushers once a month. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from consuming pure happiness. Also, with gushers, I love how some packets are multicolored while others are just red. This allows the eater to be surprised with each packet and also leaves them in suspense when they move on to the next one. The one problem with these gushers is that they are pure sugar. But that is a silly problem when compared to the greatness of what fruit snacks wanted to be. Gushers are every little kid’s dream snack and whenever I have just one, the little kid in me feels happy. I may be a little obsessed with them, but they also give me a nice pump if I eat them before I go to the gym.

These three snacks make up my Mount Rushmore. What is more important, snacks or the presidents? If it were my choice, I would replace the faces of the presidents and carve these three snack symbols into greatness. I know there will be people who will try to argue with this, but I also feel like I have enough firepower with each of my snacks to repel their evil thoughts. Now my question to you readers is which snack would you add to complete this Mount Rushmore? Remember, it has to be on par with the three I mentioned otherwise the value of this Mount Rushmore will plummet.

“Stop & Look, Alicante” by Layla Benitez-James

Why is there (under this sea) always
an other sea? Scrolling through miles
of leopard-print bikinis, I wonder, could I go
“all out”? Just imagine where my cleavage should peak,
would peek from under—do I go for side or classic?
Which stretch marks will I sun, running
like shoals of mica palmed by waves?
Will I add a shell
accent?
Some saddie on the web says,
a hungry moon snail made the mark,
says, moon snails release an acid
to soften the shell, then drill a borehole
(a toothed tongue) and feed off the meat
of the “victim.”  What if  I lost
these breasts altogether? I’m hunting.
Another saddie says, those holes were made
by a boring sponge, drilling holes
into shells  for their calcium.
The leopard walks on water. Their claws
just prick the surface without going under.
You’re a heavy cat, and I wish I had you-
r muscle. Just imagine. I could love it.

When I first viewed “Stop & Look, Alicante” by Layla Benitez-James, I thought that I could easily discern the true meaning of the poem because the words of the poem all were similar. I saw words that were familiar and felt confident since most of the poems we read in class were complex. Then as I thoroughly started to read the poem, I realized how much I didn’t understand. I honestly even questioned why this was a poem. I was distracted by the use of parentheses, the italicized words, choppy thoughts, and especially the last stanza which seemed to completely stand on its own. I didn’t even know what Alicante meant or if it was an object. However, as I started the second read into the poem, I decided to focus on one stanza’s meaning instead of thinking about how the entire poem went together.

The title of the poem was what confused me first. I saw the word alicante, but completely ignored the meaning of it on the first read. Then when I searched for it, I found that it was a city in Spain. That helped me narrow down the options of what the poem could mean as it had to refer to this city.  The first stanza included the one and only set of parentheses in the poem. “Why is there (under this sea) always an other sea?” I remembered from reading poems by E.E. Cumming that parentheses could be used to designate language that can be taken out of the poem or language that conveys a deeper meaning than the words surrounding it. So I tried to analyze this first sentence using this strategy. When this didn’t work, I continued on with the rest of the first stanza to figure out this second sea that was beneath an other sea. Then as I was reading the rest of the poem to try and figure this out, I realized that this second sea could simply be referring to a second bikini or a second page on a shopping website. The rest of the stanza went pretty smoothly when I was deciphering the text. I saw that she used a homophone with “peak” and “peek” which piqued my curiosity, but then I saw that her other poems also include homophones as well. I was still confused, nevertheless, with why this stanza felt so rushed and choppy.

After I moved on from the first stanza,  I thought that I would have a general idea about the poem until I looked at the italics in the poem. Why in the world would this poet include how a hungry snail eats? I was completely lost as to how this information pertained to the rest of the poem. I tried searching up what a moon snail was to gain a better understanding of it, but all I found was that these snails have the shells that tourists usually find on a beach. I started to connect that the reason that she started researching moon snails was that she could be planning a potential vacation to Alicante. In fact, it made perfect sense. Benitez-James wrote this poem from a tourist’s view. Before a tourist starts to go on their vacation, they generally buy new clothes for the vacation and also research the positives and negatives of the area. This person in the poem is buying bikinis for the beaches in Alicante and was afraid of seeing moon snails by referring to how she wondered,” What if I lost these breasts altogether?” I still had some questions as to why it felt so rushed with the italics, but I thought those would be answered later in the poem.  Then I saw the last paragraph and felt my entire thought process go to pieces.

“The leopard walks on water. The claws just prick the surface without going under.” In what world does a leopard walk on water and not sink? I attempted to read the rest of the poem again to figure out this last stanza and I did not have a single clue as to what this leopard refers to. Then I realized that I unknowingly skipped over the “leopard-print bikinis” mentioned in the first stanza and once I went back to it, I knew that these two had to be connected. However, even with this thought, I still had no clue as to how this last stanza refers to the poem’s main message or main meaning.

In all honesty, I can’t seem to connect the last stanza to the rest of the poem. I do know that this poem has to refer to some sort of beach vacation in Alicante. I also know that this entire poem is a thought process that occurred in a matter of minutes in a person’s head. It makes sense that it is choppy and rushed if it was just thoughts in someone’s head. It could be about appreciating beauty, but that wouldn’t apply to the entire poem meaning that it would be a false interpretation. I thought that there would be a clear deep meaning behind everything in this poem, but as I read it over and over again, I can’t seem to think it is anything but a person doing some simple vacation planning.

What You Need and What I Already Have

In this world, some might say that there are many important skills that must be learned in order to truly have a successful life. Some might say being persistent, active, or curious will help you. However, the three very important skills that every single person in this entire world should have are cooking, talking to yourself, and sleeping.

Cooking is one of the best things to do. I love it so much even though I don’t cook all my meals. I still rely on my mom, but I like to think that I’m eating her food because it’s her way of showing love. Anyway, learning how to cook has helped me relax a considerable amount. As soon as I put the apron on and start cooking, the world just goes away and I can just focus on making a delicious meal. Then when everything is finished cooking, you can reap the rewards and just devour that salivating meal. I love making myself some burritos and fried rice. They just hit the spot every single time. It doesn’t matter when I eat them. It just matters that I do eat them at least once every two days. Also, you can make healthier meals taste so good and not have to worry about eating fatty foods all the time. Another plus of cooking is that you can attract so many people of the gender you like. I’ve seen it on tv shows so it must be true. I also see it all the time with my uncle, because my aunt always seems to stare at him in the kitchen. A little creepy in my opinion, but still I hope one day that this works for me. I do think that cooking has many positive impacts on my life and I just love when others eat my food and love it. It makes me feel proud.

Talking to yourself is another main skill that people need to learn. Yeah, you might seem crazy and eventually become crazy, but it helps you focus on the present moment. A couple of encouraging words to yourself can get you going and can lift your spirits. Of course, it can also utterly diminish your spirits and make you want to snuggle up, but just be positive. I love talking to myself because it is a way for me to calm down and just relax. I can reassure myself that this test won’t matter in 6 months or that this ceramic piece looks good after it explodes into pieces. I also think that talking to yourself helps pass the time. I like to have conversations with myself sometimes about my day or who I saw in the hallways. I think this is healthy but I don’t really know and care because it works for me. This may not work for you, but it works for me which means that you should definitely try it at least once.

Lastly, just sleep dude. Sleeping is so key to me being awake during the day. It helps me keep my attention on what is being taught instead of thinking about where I’m going to nap when I get home. Also, sleeping has been proven to help you do better in a class by some studies, but I don’t know what those are exactly. Anyway, being snuggled up and waking up is just the best feeling sometimes. When you are sick, just having all of those blankets feels so nice and then you can just sweat out the disease you have. Some of the best experiences that I’ve ever had were waking up to snow falling outside and waking up to a snow day. Those experiences are just unforgettable. I remember the one time that we had Christmas with snow outside in elementary school, I was so excited because I had no work and I could just relax. Just seeing the snow is just somewhat peaceful. Sleeping is one of the best things people can do or learn how to do. It sounds weird, but if you sleep wrong or not for enough time, your entire day can be messed up.

These traits are key to me living my best life(I think). They help me focus on what’s important and just relax to the fullest even when I think the world is crashing.

Bang! Better Yourself!

In all honesty, I would say this class was the most enjoyable English class I’ve had in high school. I learned how to format papers now which is something that I had no idea how to do before if we are being honest. I was genuinely surprised at what we were doing yesterday in class because none of my other English teachers ever taught us how to have the correct format. Also, I learned how to be more open in my writing. Over the course of this semester, I feel that I have been able to really write more freely with my own thoughts, especially with the literacy narrative that we wrote at the beginning of the semester. This was one of the few essays that I enjoyed writing because I was able to write about one of my past experiences and how I was able to grow my reading knowledge. Lastly, I learned how to do better close readings of novels, because both of the novels that we read were very difficult I would say in understanding initially. I would have to read three or even four times to understand what was happening.

Just coming to class prepared is the main thing I would say. Reading the book is extremely helpful when you have to participate in a discussion or when the class talks about the book. You do not want to be that one person who is just quiet the entire period of discussion or not having a clue about what to contribute to your group when it comes to a presentation or group activity. Another side advice I have is that you should try to come to class alert. Being tired and drowsy just leads you to want to fall asleep. Then when Mr. Williams passes out important information, it just goes through one year and out the other. Also, when you have blended, don’t just think of it as a free period to sleep in or just do whatever. I’m not going to lie, but I did forget a few times about this and I had to do catchup work the night after which could have been easily done in the blended period.

My perspective on literature has changed for the better. I didn’t have a great time reading the other books we were forced to read in my other classes, but I really liked the summer reading book and I also liked reading about As I lay Dying. I didn’t really like Beloved, because I didn’t really connect to the novel. But I really do think that I will start reading harder novels because although I don’t exactly get the novel on the first try, I do like trying to figure out the meaning of a scene. I was really able to imagine the text and what was happening more in the novel this year which I thought was nice as well. I was also able to change my perspective on how to read novels on a schedule. I’m not going to lie, I thought that I would be able to just read 50 or 70 pages the day before to reach the page number that we assigned. I was only able to read around 30 pages. Then I started reading around 15 pages a day and then that really helped me when I had to reread a page.

A lesson that I will definitely carry with me next semester is turning in the blog and blog comments on canvas as well as posting them. I forgot to do this a few times and I shall make sure that I do this next semester. Also, I think I’m going to start doing mental hexagonal connections before I write a paper next semester. I found that when we did that in class, I was able to get more thoughts flowing in my brain and was able to easily find solid connections to use in my writing. Lastly, an important lesson this semester that I will most definitely follow next semester is to be on time for first period.

What To Do After College

Since most of us will be going to college next year, I think that unless you are absolutely crazy about something, you have absolutely no idea what to do in college or what major you want to pursue. As such, let me give you a few options that you can consider choosing instead and I guess I will still also talk about why college is still a solid option to pursue after high school.  Remember, all of these options are just as good as college.

The first option is that you take a gap year. A gap year can help you figure out many things about yourself that you had no idea about before. You could realize how much you love working with others and pursue something similar back at college. Also, you can travel the world if you have enough money and experience just about everything. You can go backpacking throughout Europe or live in a hostel with a few other friends in a different country and just have a great time. A gap year can also allow you to take a break and recharge if you feel that everything is moving too fast. You can even gain new life skills that you may not obtain through college and you can also utilize these new life skills to make some quick cash. Of course, you could also just stay in your parents’ basement and just utilize this time to just do whatever you want and just be with your parents. You might go a little crazy with this option, but you also don’t have to pay anything like taxes or rent(unless your parents demand it) and you can get free food. You don’t even have to worry about having a car to drive then because, at college, you don’t get a car to use when you are a freshman. You would have to walk or bring a bike with you and a bike could get stolen. So why not just take a gap year and explore all of your options and really find out what things that interest you that you could do on a daily basis?

Another option is getting a job. A job can teach you so many important things that you can take with you wherever you end up. A strong work ethic and solid time management are two important things. if you don’t have those skills, a job can help teach you those very easily as a job has shifts that you essentially have to work around and at work, if you are slacking, you can get fired or reprimanded. A job would help you obtain both skills which are not just important in the workplace, but also at home. For example, renovations in your place of living can be very difficult and time-consuming and it can discourage you. But with those two skills, you can easily finish renovations and not have to be worried. I’m not going to act like I have either of those skills, but I would understand why both of those skills are important to have, and hopefully one day, I have both. Anyways, a job can get you some quick money and if you work your way up, you can get so many more benefits.

Another option, of course, that you could take after high school is going to college. College is a place where you can really pursue your interests as a major and then eventually get a high-paying job where you can have fun while earning a considerable amount of money. Of course, college requires a lot of work, but college is also one of the best experiences people can have. My brother always talks about how his current college life is amazing and how he doesn’t wish at all that he was back in high school. With college, you can gain a new set of friends and essentially start all over again. You also do get increased career stability as many companies prefer hiring people with majors. College can be a great experience and the possible connections that could be grown there could help you both at the workplace and outside the workplace.

There are more options, but I just focused on these three because these are the most common things that people do after high school. Of course, you can still go to college after getting a job or go to college after the gap year, but I just wanted to give a few options that you could take right after high school. Anyways, just do what you want.

Dogs>Cats

Dogs. Dogs are just so absolutely amazing. They offer happiness, a cuddle friend, and someone to hang out with. There is a reason that they are called man’s best friend. Then there are cats. Cats are just bad except for those few fluffy and cute ones. Otherwise, cats are just horrible. They scratch, screech, and just outright are mean. They act so superior when in fact, dogs are. Let me take you through the two reasons and an anecdote about why dogs are amazing and one anecdote about why cats are just outright bad. Then I’ll tie it all up again at the end.

Dogs are the best companion animal because they display their unconditional love for their owner/friend. They can notice when you are sad or about to cry. They start to look at you with their cute puppy dog eyes and just come sit next to you. If you ever feel alone, the dog makes it less lonely. They also help relieve whatever stress you may contain as the dog can be an escape from the stressful life you may have. Even if you leave the house, the dog will still wait for you and when you come back, the dog will wag his tail incredibly fast just in anticipation for you.

The best thing about dogs is that they are the best physical/social partner. If you want to go for a walk, take the dog with you. If you want to go for a run, the dog can run with you with a seemingly endless amount of energy. You can play outside with the dog in the parks and just have an overall good laugh. You can even meet so many new people because of your dog. Your dog is a great conversation starter if you want to meet a new person. Even better, you can meet people who love dogs like you at dog parks and get life-lasting friendships. There are events that are specifically for dog owners to socialize with each other. So many wonderful things come from having a dog and having a cat would cause so many negative problems.

Cats are just plain evil. First, they are just too attackful. They scratch at you if you do something they don’t like. They will hiss at you even more often when they aren’t getting the things they want. Their claws are so sharp that they can create long-lasting scars on your skin. They can nip at you and also jump on you causing you pain. They can also jump onto tables and other things causing glasses, plates, and other things to break. They can also lead to hard work being lost such as when my cousins and I made a 1000-piece puzzle that took us over a week to finish and all of that disappeared in a few seconds when their cat decided to jump on top of the table and completely mess up the entire board. The amount of anger that I had arbored and kept inside me during that moment could have filled an entire barrel. Although I would never harm an animal, I really really really wished that I hadn’t made that promise to myself at that moment. Anyways, that one moment really set me down this entire road of how much I absolutely despise cats. This moment also really helped me find dogs as true companions.

Now, let’s go back to why dogs are the best. Lastly, my dog is the main reason why I’ve believed dogs to be the best companion to humans. We first got him in July 2020. He was a small pup and he was very rowdy. He also made lots of dietary mistakes since he was quite inexperienced in our home. Still, he was quite the friend especially when we all had to quarantine in our own homes. He did all of those things that I detailed earlier in this blog and he is sleeping next to me as I’m writing this blog. Obviously, I’m biased that dogs are amazing because I have one. But even so, if I had a cat and a dog, I would obviously still favor the dog. Once you’ve reached this point of the blog, you must think that a dog is the greater companion compared to cats.

Colors and Classes

Now, with this blog post, I am going to switch the subject due to a recent argument with a few of my classmates. I would usually write about 4 different, but amazing things, but I have to write about this current subject. School subjects directly relate to colors. Obviously, some people are going to have their own opinions, but there is only one right answer for each subject: math is blue, reading is red, science is green, and social science is yellow.

Math has to be blue. There is no other option. In math class, we solve equations and basically can not use emotion to solve questions. It has to be based on logic and is completely devoid of emotion. Even though it is frustrating and I can get really mad at it, the feeling of completing a math question is incomparable. Just like how I associate blue with happiness, that feeling of being able to understand a math concept is amazing. Just that feeling makes everything I have done in math worth it even though I have to put in countless hours. Also if you associate blue with chaos since oceans can be unruly, math still resembles chaos in the way that you are feeling overwhelmed by the homework you have. If you think math is not blue, I genuinely think that you need to be put in a room with me and try to argue your side. It will not work out.

Reading must be red. For any reading-associated class I have ever had, I have to have a red folder. It just doesn’t fit right in my soul if it is any other color. Also, red is an angry color and also a sad color. I connect the angriness associated with red to my inability to find the deeper meaning in texts. I always just find the surface meaning and then I can’t really figure out the deeper meaning without guidance from others. Then I get a little sad when I see how easy it is for others to just see it. Also, I don’t enjoy most books which then goes back to me feeling sad that I have to read that book. Also, I generally have the most stress in my reading classes, even more than math, because it usually takes me a few hours to fully understand a text and find a deeper meaning. So, reading must be red.

If we move on to science, green has to be it. Just like the colors before, if I do not have a green folder for science, something just doesn’t feel right. I feel like a puzzle that was made of pieces just jammed together instead of perfectly fitting with each other. Also, nature and plants are green. What class do we study plants and nature? Science class is the answer. You may do a brief study of nature in your other classes, but to get a deep knowledge of nature, it is taught in science class. Also, I generally see green trees and fields of green grass as delightful and more peaceful. I also find most of my science classes the same. Although I am not as sure on this one as the ones before, I could still most definitely argue this opinion til the other person wants to just stop talking to me.

Lastly, we arrive at my favorite color assignment; social science is yellow. I see yellow as another happy color and in social science class, there is no trickery involved. When a class does not contain trickery, I see that class as an automatic lovable class. In other subjects such as math and reading, there is always trickery. Especially if you don’t understand what is happening at that moment. In science, there is trickery with how much is actually needed to be known to be able to take a science test and do well on it. You think will be ready for the test and then there is that one question that focuses on the smallest detail in your textbook. In social science, everything is straightforward. It either is in history or supported by facts. As such, social science can only be yellow.

I do understand that there will be others who disagree with me, but hopefully, those people can realize their mistakes and then turn to the correct side of the assignment of colors to classes.

4 Different, but Equally Amazing Restaurants

Welcome back everyone who is here from the last blog. For the newcomers, welcome to my blog where every two weeks, I find 4 different, but equally amazing things either national or international. Remember these are only options with money nonbinding Last time, I did vacation but this week, I’m feeling a little hungry so let us together explore 4 different, but equally amazing restaurants in the USA.

If you want the best texas barbecue in the country, Goldee’s in Fort Worth, Texas is the place to go. Their meat is just unreal. Slow-cooked and smoked to perfection, the brisket has only five stars from its customers. Even better, all of their meats are not over-seasoned like many other barbecue joints allowing the meat’s flavor to come through creating juicy, tender meat. Their sides do not disappoint either with their peppery cheese grits and mustard-heavy pork hash. Then, if you want to kick it up a notch, they have special sauces such as spicy-sour jeow som to really elevate their meat. When(not if) you visit, you will certainly not be discontent. This place will leave you filled to the brim of collapse with deliciousness.

If you’re not exactly a meat eater and like to stick to more of the veggie side, do not worry. Aunts et Uncles in Brooklyn, New York has some of the best Caribbean food you will ever taste. Notice how I said Caribbean food and not Caribbean vegetarian food. They feature plant-based classics such as sauteed greens and plantain mofongo. Both are some of the best foods you will ever get to experience. As you move on to the main course, the amount of options is staggering. They have french toast that just melts in your mouth, plant-based meat that tastes just like 5-star quality meat, and so many more options. You can most definitely find at least one food here that will make your top 10 list of best foods eaten. I guarantee it.

Now if you want something a little more classy and are looking for a perfect date restaurant, look no further than Akiko’s in San Francisco, California. Akiko’s is a sushi restaurant and their sake selection is some of the best in the entire country. It’s perfect for a tipsy date(if you’re not above 21, do not drink). Aside from their alcohol menu, their nigiri and make is one of those foods that just make your head roll and you just feel pure bliss. Their miso butter-kissed crab and Japanese black abalone themselves are outstanding. Even the presentation is so clean and spectacular that your eyes may feel moist since you may feel that you are in the presence of greatness. Okay, maybe they won’t feel moist, but you get the point. Even the decor this restaurant has is aesthetically pleasing. There is no wrong option of what to choose from their menu.

If you are on for spice, Indian food is always a great option. After you eat at Rasika in Washington D.C., you will never want to go to another Indian restaurant. This place of fine dining has had presidents eat here before and the Bezos as well. The chef here, Vikram Sunderam, has created so many classic dishes with twists that his food appeals to everyone. Although he still makes classics like butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, he also cooks duck vindaloo and truffle naan. Naan is essentially the best “bread” out there and can be eaten with anything. Vikram Sunderam took advantage of that and was able to create masterful dishes. His palak chaat is a customer favorite and so is his black cod. Even the Michelin Guide recognized both his food and him. If you don’t know what the Michelin Guide is, it is the ultimate guidebook to deliciousness. Rasika has the perfect blend of classiness and spectacular food. You will be left feeling content no matter what food you eat.

All 4 of these restaurants offer something different, but they all will leave you with a smile on your face. If you have the chance to visit even one of these restaurants, don’t let that chance go to waste. Jump on it and experience the individualness of the restaurant.
