Dogs>Cats

Dogs. Dogs are just so absolutely amazing. They offer happiness, a cuddle friend, and someone to hang out with. There is a reason that they are called man’s best friend. Then there are cats. Cats are just bad except for those few fluffy and cute ones. Otherwise, cats are just horrible. They scratch, screech, and just outright are mean. They act so superior when in fact, dogs are. Let me take you through the two reasons and an anecdote about why dogs are amazing and one anecdote about why cats are just outright bad. Then I’ll tie it all up again at the end.

Dogs are the best companion animal because they display their unconditional love for their owner/friend. They can notice when you are sad or about to cry. They start to look at you with their cute puppy dog eyes and just come sit next to you. If you ever feel alone, the dog makes it less lonely. They also help relieve whatever stress you may contain as the dog can be an escape from the stressful life you may have. Even if you leave the house, the dog will still wait for you and when you come back, the dog will wag his tail incredibly fast just in anticipation for you.

The best thing about dogs is that they are the best physical/social partner. If you want to go for a walk, take the dog with you. If you want to go for a run, the dog can run with you with a seemingly endless amount of energy. You can play outside with the dog in the parks and just have an overall good laugh. You can even meet so many new people because of your dog. Your dog is a great conversation starter if you want to meet a new person. Even better, you can meet people who love dogs like you at dog parks and get life-lasting friendships. There are events that are specifically for dog owners to socialize with each other. So many wonderful things come from having a dog and having a cat would cause so many negative problems.

Cats are just plain evil. First, they are just too attackful. They scratch at you if you do something they don’t like. They will hiss at you even more often when they aren’t getting the things they want. Their claws are so sharp that they can create long-lasting scars on your skin. They can nip at you and also jump on you causing you pain. They can also jump onto tables and other things causing glasses, plates, and other things to break. They can also lead to hard work being lost such as when my cousins and I made a 1000-piece puzzle that took us over a week to finish and all of that disappeared in a few seconds when their cat decided to jump on top of the table and completely mess up the entire board. The amount of anger that I had arbored and kept inside me during that moment could have filled an entire barrel. Although I would never harm an animal, I really really really wished that I hadn’t made that promise to myself at that moment. Anyways, that one moment really set me down this entire road of how much I absolutely despise cats. This moment also really helped me find dogs as true companions.

Now, let’s go back to why dogs are the best. Lastly, my dog is the main reason why I’ve believed dogs to be the best companion to humans. We first got him in July 2020. He was a small pup and he was very rowdy. He also made lots of dietary mistakes since he was quite inexperienced in our home. Still, he was quite the friend especially when we all had to quarantine in our own homes. He did all of those things that I detailed earlier in this blog and he is sleeping next to me as I’m writing this blog. Obviously, I’m biased that dogs are amazing because I have one. But even so, if I had a cat and a dog, I would obviously still favor the dog. Once you’ve reached this point of the blog, you must think that a dog is the greater companion compared to cats.

  1. Vishal, I’ll be honest, I was a little shaky when I read the title of your blog. While I absolutely love dogs, I have always seen myself as more of a cat person. Maybe it stems from me being an introvert or a homebody, but I really love the sly demeanor that cats have. Since you gave an anecdote proving dogs are better than cats, I’ll do the opposite with a bad story about dogs. There is a playground about a minute away from my house, and when I was younger, I would go there after school to play around with my friends. One day, I was there by myself, and on the way back, my neighbor’s dog started to chase me. Now, I was about eight years old so I didn’t know that running would just egg him on more. I started sprinting back to my house because I had never even petted the dog before and I thought it wanted to hurt me – I got all the way to my back door, but as I was opening it the dog got a hold of my shirt and tore a hole in it! I guess that cemented me as a cats>dogs person, but I’m sure we can agree to disagree.
